Plain terms.
Seekyo is run by one independent developer, not a company, and is in private alpha while it is handed out key by key. These are the terms for using it.
What you are getting
A hosted API that fetches public web pages and returns quoted passages with their sources. It is an alpha: behaviour, limits and prices can change, and there is no uptime promise. If something breaks, tell us and we will fix it, but do not build something that cannot tolerate a failed request.
What you are responsible for
- The URLs you ask us to fetch, and having the right to ask.
- What you do with the results. Passages come from pages owned by other people, and using them may be governed by their terms, by copyright, or by both.
- Keeping your API key secret. Anyone with the key can spend the credit on it.
What you must not do
- Use it to attack, overload or scrape a site without regard to its stated rules, or to work around a site's access controls, rate limits or paywalls.
- Use it to break the law, infringe anyone's rights, or process material that is itself unlawful.
- Resell the API or the API keys without a written agreement with us.
- Interfere with the service for other people, including by trying to exceed your rate limit or your balance by other means.
We can suspend or end access for any of the above, and we will tell you when we do.
Money
- Credit is bought in advance and spent per request, priced from what the request did. The current prices are published in the docs.
- A request will not start unless the balance covers the estimated cost, so an account cannot go into debt from a runaway crawl.
- Prices may change. Changes apply to requests made after the change.
- If we end your access without you having breached these terms, unused credit that you paid for is refunded.
Limit of liability
The service is provided as is, without warranties of any kind. To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you is limited to the amount of credit you hold with us. We are not liable for indirect or consequential losses, including lost profits or lost data.
Changes and governing law
We may update these terms as the service changes, and will note material changes on this page. These terms are governed by the laws of the country the operator lives in, and disputes are subject to the courts of that country.
